Vtg David Andersen Norway Aqua Green Enamel FAIRYTALE Sterling Silver Bracelet
Made in Norway, by the David-Andersen company during the 1940s - 50s, this bracelet has wide links that are slightly domed so they still wrap neatly around your wrist. With two different patterns alternating on the sterling silver panels, in the charming'FairyTale' design, this bracelet uses enameling in a lovely shade of aquamarine to set them off. This piece is fresh looking and must have been tucked away and well. Taken care of, the signs of wear are noticeable only on close inspection.

The silver setting has a bright patina with very little surface wear and no dents or irregularities. The enameling is dense and vibrant with a significant spot of wear on one link by the clasp and the rest of the enameling is completely intact. There are no irregularities to the setting or signs of solder or repair and the piece has a firm shape. Col lector Note On Enameling.

There are several different styles of enameling: guilloche (colored, transparent enamel over a metal surface with geometric grooves), champlevé (enamel fills etchings or depressions in a metal surface), plique a jour (translucent enamel fitted into open-back metal cells) and more. What makes antique or vintage enamel pieces collectible is the condition of the enamel workis it distinct and vibrant? Is it free from chips? Other characteristics like an elaborate pattern, unique depiction, or the use of multiple colors can add more value to an enamel pieces. Characterized by simplicity and minimalism, the modernist design movement of Nordic countries flourished during the 1950s and remains highly influential today.

For jewelry, sterling silver is historically the beloved and central material for their artisanship, with Georg Jensen being a pivotal artistic figure during the early 1900s. A focus on silver enabled the creation of democratic designs possessing both functionality and beauty. Sculptural and flowing forms were embraced with colorful enameling bringing a complimentary contrast to the silvers modern sheen. _gsrx_vers_1233 GS 8.1.1 (1233).
