DAVID ANDERSEN Sterling Pendant Solje Dangles 1960s EUC Vintage NORWAY Norwegian. With its fantastic geometric design, use of negative space, juxtaposition of the smooth round and sharp angular forms and the elegantly elongated dangles, the pendant has an interesting sculptural shape that is lively and animated, like a wearable mobile. Likely influenced both by ancient Nordic motifs as well as Atomic, Space Age ones, it looks ancient and modern at the same time, a Modernist version of the traditional Solje. Measuring about 1-3/4" wide by 3-3/8", overall length, it is in Excellent vintage condition with just light surface dirt, scratches and tarnish as expected for its age.
From the 1960s, the heyday of Scandinavian modernist design, it is signed on the back "925S David-Andersen Norway Sterling". It is not signed as to the artist but was designed by Bjørn Sigurd Østern. Expert craftsmanship and exciting design combine to make this handsome vintage Danish pendant a stand out.
