Price is determined by the number of plaques (size or length) type of metal and type of fasteners as well as belting material. Authentic NORWEGIAN BUNAD 830s Oxidized SILVER BELT approximately 32 long and from Norway. The plaques are of 830s silver and the hand made.

Fasteners are of the same material. Extra leather for eventual expansion. The style of bunad belt was originally referred to as a "konebelt" or "wife belt".

The tradition of silver additions or placement or apron and hat types made it easy for others to know who was available and who was not. OR- Perhaps because only a married woman could afford one!

Times have changed now and every one wants one! Its become a fashion statement for many.

The plaques are attached to a leather belt strip which is about 1 1/2 wide. They can be removed and reattached to a longer belt when more length is needed......

And yes they are expensive. Sometimes the plaques are placed with room in between each plaque to eliminate having to use so many.
