David Andersen Hammered Sterling Silver Neck Ring Collar Necklace. These sterling silver neckrings are most often used to showcase one of the many mid-century modern pendants also made by Scandinavian silversmith David Andersen. The design is simple and elegant and could be worn alone, but really does look nicest with a pendant dangling from the V. The collar necklace holds it shape while still being flexible enough to be placed around the neck of the wearer.
It is hard to measure the wearable length, but I feel safe in saying this is for a slender neck. The length of the silver if it could be laid flat is approximately 14" with a 5/8" gap at the top. It measures 5 1/2" from top to the bottom of the V, and the inner opening measures 5 1/4" across at the widest point. The heavy-gauge silver wire has been hammered flat on the upper sides for a wonderful faceted effect. The back is marked "D-A Norway Sterling 925S" on the flattened area on one side. The ends are nicely rounded so they will not scratch your neck. In very nice vintage condition with a soft patina. The silver would polish up even brighter if desired.
