Vintage David-Andersen Bjorn Sigurd Ostern Thor's Hammer Sterling Silver Set

Vintage Bjorn Sigurd Ostern for David-Andersen Thor's Hammer Pendant, Earrings, Torque Set, "Silver Series". One of the iconic designs of the modernized look of David-Andersen, from designer Bjorn Sigurd Ostern.

This set is part of Bjorn's Silver Series from 1966. The pendant and earrings have a elegantly clean mid-century design, featuring a large solid sterling silver pendant in the shape of Thor's Hammer; in Norse mythology, the hammer received by Thor, known as Mjolnir, is a weapon with magical powers. The pendant measures 2-3/4" long x 1-3/4" wide and is a substantial 1/8 thick. The faint raised line through the middle and the loop-bail add a little 3-dimensionality to the piece. The pendant weighs 34.10 grams.

The back is marked: "David-Andersen / Norway Sterling 925S". The earrings measure 1/2" wide x almost 1-3/4" long, and weigh 6.7 grams. They are the original screw back design. Both are marked on the back: "D-A Norway / Sterling 925S". The backs of the screwbacks are stamped: "D-A / 925S". I have added, to complete the set, a David-Andersen V-shaped sterling silver torque. The measurements of the torque are shown in the photos.

There is a lot flexibility, so it can be easily worn. It has a gentle curve to it so it will drape over the neck and shoulders. One side of the torque is stamped "D-A Norway / Sterling 925S". Condition: All pieces are in very good to excellent condition. There are no signs of damage or repair.

The screwbacks are fully functional and original to the earrings. There is patina and signs of wear, both normal for vintage pre-owned jewelry. The pieces could be easily cleaned and polished to look new, but I leave that to the new owner.
