Vtg 1971 MCM Tapio Wirkkala Hopeakuu Finland Sterling Kinetic Moon Necklace

An ultra rare, and completely original. Tapio Wirkkala Hopeakuu sterling silver Full Moon pendant necklace!

This is arguably the most famous design by Tapio Wirkkala and is coveted by collectors world wide due to it's incredible design aesthetic and rarity. These original examples rarely come up for sale and are generally only found in museums and high end galleries. This is an original example dating to 1971. It is the smallest version of the line and is much more wearable for the average collector. The design incorporates a series of interconnected rings that move independently of one another reflecting light as you move.

The chain closes with a spring ring clasp. Pendant Dimensions: just under 1 3/4" long by 1 1/8" wide.

Hallmarks: Both the pendant and the original chain are fully hallmarked as shown with NW for N. Westerback for Tapio Wirkkala along with the mark for the city of Helsinki and S7 for the year 1971. Condition: fabulous vintage condition with the kind of gorgeous patina that only comes with time!
